Weapon skins are now an essential part of CS: GO. New sets keep coming. It would be cool if you could find a custom skin in the game. With the workbench and a little knowledge of image editing, you can use it to create your own CS: GO weapon skins and upload it directly to the workshop. 

CS:GO Workbench

The Workbench is a powerful tool. You can use it without pre-skills. It provides some options available which you can use to change the appearance of the weapons. To create something completely new, you can use an image-editing program (such as Photoshop or GIMP).

The tool can currently only open on the console. For this, you need the following command.

workshop_workbench

Thereafter, the Workbench will open in a new window (you should have at least a resolution of 1024 × 768 semi-conductor).

There you can then select a weapon and one of the provided techniques to dye the weapon. If necessary, you can import then also a pattern or a previously completely manufactured skin thus decorates the weapon. The Workbench offers several options how to play around scaling, displacement and rotation which, to further change the look.

Workshop Weapon Finish Publisher

A self-create skin cannot publish directly on the workbench. This works on the "Workshop Weapon Finish Publisher" in CS: GO SDK. This works like its counterpart for custom maps. It specifies the most important information and adds the necessary files. Another one can be adjusted in the workshop. One can use this little tool also edit and update its already uploaded skins.

In the workshop, there is a separate category for items. There, many weapon skins can be watched, rated and commented. The most popular works will be integrated into the game.
